Dr.Rohan Samarasinghe is the current Head of ICT in the university of Colombo, who brings local as well as international academic expertise. Rohan holds an Honors degree in Physical Science from the University of Kelaniya (1994) a Master’s degree in Information Science from the Graduate School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Kyushu University, Fukuoka Japan (2000), a Doctor of Engineering (Ph.D.) in Information Science from the Department of Creation Informatics, Faculty of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Iizuka, Japan (2006) and a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) in Management of Technology, Graduate School of Economics, Department of Business and Technology Management, Kyushu University, Japan(2009). During his Masters and Ph.D. periods he was awarded a scholarship from Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho and Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Scholarship (2001-2004) in order to carry out his higher studies in Japan. Prior to joining the Faculty of Technology, University of Colombo he has joined the SLIIT in 2010 as senior academic and served as Senior Lecturer there till 2020. During that period he has worked in UCSC on assignment during his sabbatical leave period of one year. He has held positions as the Executive Director of Sri Lanka Technology Incubator (Pvt.) Ltd (SLTI) from 2010 to 2013. Currently he is associating with government organizations, Provincial Councils, Ministries, JICA and private sector corporations as a consultant and a member of Advisory Board in the field of Information Technology, Management of Technology, System implementations, and Business Process Re-Engineering.
