Dr. Jayanthe Rajapaksa is a Senior Professor in Parasitology and Professor and Chair, Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Dr. Rajapakse has published over 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts, trained and supervised 8 PhD, 29 MPhil, and 58 MSc graduate students during his tenure at the University of Peradeniya. He has been a leading researcher in the field of veterinary medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka; in order to recognize his continuous research accomplishments by the Sri Lankan government, he has been awarded with the Presidential Research Award every year since 1987. This is a prestigious award by the office of the President of Sri Lanka to recognise outstanding contributions of Sri Lankan researchers engage with applied research to improve animal and human health. He was invited by Kochi Medical School, Japan, Department of Infectious and Immunity, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, Centre for Disease Control (CDC), Atlanta, USA, Department of Veterinary Science, University of Osaka, Japan and University of Hobbiton, New Zealand as a visiting professor.
